Matthew 5: 43- 48. it is the famous and oftenly recalled bible verse that says about loving your enemies, loving those who persecute you. as i read this passage again, verse 47 struck me for the first time. "and if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others?...." now i began to see the link when God tells us to love our enemies and doing more than others. God knows that it is hard and tough to love our enemies, to love those who do not do good to us. God isn't trying to persecute us or make our lives difficult. yet, looking from another perspective, God's love is really big and deep. He wishes for us to have love for enemies more than hatred for them. our Savior, Jesus has shown this example perfectly. in Luke 23: 34, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Jesus knew and experienced the painful things from men at the cross, yet, His love for the people overcame all difficulties. am i just doing the normal and usual things in life? reacting and responding how others will normally say? Lord, i want to rise above the norms. align my attitudes and actions towards Christ- centeredness.
