movie bites

anyone want to catch gong li with me??
An all-star cast brings this remake of Wai Keung Lau and Alan Mak's INFERNAL AFFAIRS to the screen!!! (a big shoutout to Mr Freedy!!! *screamz*)
what to say for a movie like this, with Dicaprio, Damon and Wahlberg in it. (deep breathing. silence)
Few weeks ago, i got quite bored from doing assignments in school that i headed to west mall for awhile and got myself my first comic book! that happen to be Death Note! hahaha. this particular manga was recommended by fellow manga-ians livi san and justin. anyway, here's some lines on what it is:
Shinigami, the God of Death, dropped a notebook in the human world where a weary genius picked it up. “The human whose name is written in this note shall die”, it said. This was the notebook of death that determined people’s death.

powerpuff girls! (in powersuits)

yahoooo! my hr presentation is over! :) many thanks to my fellow project mates, dian, joy and shannie.
an hour before the real thing:
joy took out her white pants and ask us if she looks like from PAP.
shannie busy memorising her notes, repeating her lines over and over again.
dian writing notes for her slides.
and me, busy memorising my lines too. (duh)
the time came for our turn to present, me and shannie said our last prayers for the group and the presentation. throughout the whole thing, each of us shared our points in our own unique styles. kudos to shannie, our last presentater, who brought about a light- hearted atmosphere in the chilly lecture hall. way to go, shannie! :D after the presentation, we were so relieved and we're all chionging for our snacks to ease the hungry stomachs (food for life!). thanks girls and thanks to God too! :)

livi san

ahhh.....the lady in black is livi. i like to call her livi san ("san" meanin "o-nee-san" in japanese, older sister) . i first got to know her name when shirls mentioned to me that her younger sister will be coming to singapore to study. i was excited to meet livi, yet abit nervous, as i do not know if i can click well with her. oh well, time flies and we clicked pretty well and i enjoyed every bit of our friendship.
anyway, on a sidenote, am awaiting for a movie to be out soon, on 19 October 2006.

the season of pimples

season of pimples occurs twice a year. the months of March and September. the mad rush of tests, projects and deadlines. took the sweetest nap today, i guessed i haven't been sleeping well for the past week. project meetings, typing away late into the night for my reports and write-ups, etc... however, there are some fun times in the midst of working like a busy bee. the next statement sounds real basic, but yea, it kind of hit me last week. i realised that i treasure the time spent reading the bible alot. bible is far more interesting book to read than any textbooks on planet earth (currently at exodus, journeying with moses, talking about serious business with pharaoh to release people) . enjoyed my saturday late dinner with puay, ame and yiyou. ohh, puay has a funny riddle. ask her about it yea? its the story of the tomato family :P okay, am having a HR presentation tomorrow. i shall take the confidence from above to present *clear throat* :)

for your beautiful soul

shall post this real short and sweety, some words that ran past my mind while watching fav oprah show this morning.
"...we can't be mind readers all the times. we just have to make our requests and needs known to one another..."
this is so true for all types of relationships and friendships to work out well. be it parents and children, husband and wife, between you and your in- laws, between you and your colleague, even between you and your closest pal and many many others. at times, we may take our closest ones for granted and expect them to know what our thoughts are and understand the situations we are in. even when you have found your better half or you think you have, it is still very much your responsibility to make your thoughts and requests known to your better half. come on, we have not reach the place called heaven, so it's very common sense that sometimes, there will people who, in their best ability and knowledge did their best to understand our needs, yet, at certain times, they still would not be able to be mind readers of our thoughts and needs.
since most of my blog readers are of single and available status, i would want to encourage you to look into the friendships around you now. i shared this with jency, ting and joyce two days ago: "long friendships like this are hard to come by, we gotta treasure it and appreciate one another..." yea, God made us so unique as an individual, thus, we ought to appreciate one another's unique-ness just as how God would have appreciate and love those unique-ness in us too. here's what aunt jane smsed me the other day: "just think wat would Jesus do in this situation"
sum it up, communication is key to understand one another's intentions better. at this very moment, i thought of the bible. woww.... God has all intentions to know us and to make His love, truth and wisdom known to His people too. that is, through His Word. Let's cherish His Word yea? and of course the peeps around us :)

We are 15!

the convo before this picture was taken.
pastor dinah: wow...shuzhen, is this your group?
me: o yea, we are the youth support and youth wam.
pastor dinah: (smiled) i see... are they working or....still in school?
me: (paused) most of us are in our tertiary education and some guys are in ns now... those studying are either from jc, poly or uni currently...
pastor dinah: (more smiles) ah..i see...its good to have some matured ones to be in the youth, as an example for the rest :)
a simple statement by pastor dinah really got me thinking in a different light. all along how i see us, the minops gang, are our different talents and nature of our ministry being put together to serve the whole creative and support systems in youth. now, i also see that our lives are able to make great impacts to live out christ- following examples as kor kors and jie jies to the younger ones in the youth ministry too. we, too, are still continuing to grow in our character and maturity towards heavenbound. we also have lessons of making boo-boo mistakes in our lives and ministries too. guess the most comforting thing is we are able to share our learnings and reflections, and know that we are not in this race alone. even for myself, it's coming close to a year that minops is formed. i have listened to and shared with many of my cg mates' life experiences and learnings; swimmings with philo, lectures with voon, subways with wyn, horlicks ice cream with ruiz, homemade breads with xin, calligraphy assisting sessions with jiali, busy sats with jiayi, pool games with gwen, weekly starhub's yongtaufu with val, mrts with yiyou, "shuz, can help to vet the bulletin contents?" msns with puay, side by side at front of house with ame, a long stroll back to marinabay station with lee jun, "kill flyeeeeer...." dota games with walz, marriott high tea with ben, anime chats with ian, unhealthy pig-outs with daniel, smses with yaoguo, "shuz, i've a prophesy just now..." times with qianjin, few secs' chats with simon, movies with ec, "mornin shuz! halo shuz! *waves*" with jerel. these are precious recollections and it always reminds us of something even greater and better coming, especially when we only have one calling in life - G.C.
i will always remembered being touched by these two persons. i was only 11 and i merely mentioned about who i am, my likes and dislikes... and a volleyball came as a birthday present on my 12th birthday. these words were on the white ball: dear shuzhen, happy birthday! you are the apple of God's eyes. with love, ben and dinah.
Pastor Ben and aunt Dinah, this warmth and love you showed to me when i was young, i come to understand and know that such love come from God above and thank you for giving your whole lives and hearts into loving the Hope family members and friends.

pre 15th anniversary

just had a morning shower and finished watching my fav show - oprah. refreshing!
been busy for the past few days - a test, 3 project meetings, 2 lectures... *brain dead* the next two weeks gonna be something like that too, as most of my projects' duedates is in the first week of october. yea, gonna do it with His strength *winkz* weishan: fighting on man! :)
spent a great day studying with eevoon on tuesday. thanks for that little spontaneous note, felt encouraged by it, its sitting in my pencil case now. went out munching on subway's cold cut trio and shopping with wynnie on wednesday. hey baby wyn, see you in red at anniversary yea? *winkz* received a white kit kat chocky from my HR pal, weishan, though milky and creamy, appreciate that little gesture man! and yea..............i am so gonna called out your name "WEISHAN!!!!!" hahahahaha :p :p
something came to my mind while travelling on bus home last week. was going home from my HR evening lecture, wasn't thinking much on my mind. out of nowhere, these words came: anniversary service is coming. the 15th anniversary of my church. shuz, look forward to it and be ready to be ministered. i'm (God) gonna touch you and speak with you. at that very instance, i am very comforted at those words. flashbacks of memories came rushing... how i came to Hope, how i started serving in ministry and many many. i was so filled with joy and gratitude. the second thought i had was a reminder from Him, that yea, everyone present at the anniversary service will be ministered by Him, He will touch every hearts that day. this anniversary is gonna be a special one, He will visit our hearts :)

Pastor Jeff

happy birthday, pastor!
i can still vividly remember attending your wedding few years back. then, i only knew about you leading the high school ministry. we were pretty small at that time. these years, i have come to know you more, being in your team, the supper nights we had with the rest, the rides home after dmms. pastor, thanks for taking time to know me on a personal level too. i really had a very pleasant surprise when you first popped by and greeted me on msn! hahaha. i was really happy :)
i'm really grateful and blessed to love Jesus with you in Hope family and my prayer for you will be to ask God to bless great health in you and your family and also, God to continue to pour great vision in you :)

from thus far he comes

taking a break from my hr assignment now. halfway through it. oo..i aim to finish at 4am. shuz, gambate!
was reading at times today, came across this book by anderson cooper "dispatches from the edge". he is a CNN news reporter. a famous one, who appeared a few times in Oprah shows too. a few things i read...
"in this city, people do grow up believing that there is always this safety net to fall back on when bad things happen...e.g. disasters...wars....but Katrina showed all that's not true." down to desperation, frustration isn't just the word, but "dying"...people's hopes are vanishing....they do not want sympathy, they want actions of help.
another incident was an impromptu interview he had with senator mary landrieu. they were on the topic of relief help for the Katrina victims. as the interview went on, tensions were building up between both parties, as the lady was just trying to thank and at the same explaining that relief help will soon come and be provided and all. cooper felt there was something deep within him. he felt so much inside, that these people need to be saved. and yes, saved at once.
here comes the ultimate one i read....
"for years after he died, i used to imagine that my father would somehow give me a sign, sometimes i still search for it, his approval, his advice. friends of his tell me, 'your father would have been so proud of you.' but its not the same as hearing it from him, seeing it in his face. i like to think of him watching my show each night. i like to imagine he's seeing it all."
the above abstract really warms my heart.....

a saturday

was reminded again in today's sermon: i'm blessed to be a blessing. when God chose to pour certain blessings in my life, it is not just an end to it. it is for me to channel these blessings to those who need them too.
during the services, i got to pray for a few people. as i was praying for them, i very much wanted them to be blessed by God, i wish for their lives to be successful, in every aspect. compassion and love just filled my heart as i prayed. i do not know them personally, but it just filled me with so much of warmth and encouragement simply the fact that i could pray for them, those prayers that are going to turn into miracles and testimonies of changed lives. what a privilege! there was one filipino sister that i prayed for. she was in the second service because she has work on sunday, thus couldnt make it to the filipino service. i went over to her and we prayed together. the prayer time was really refreshing. it brought so much comfort to me, knowing that we are all together in this one big family and we cover one another in prayers.
oh well, my long day ended with two lovely scoops of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. cherry garcia and berried treasure with jiayi. yummmzzz.
