homage not

abstracted from my sermon note today:
point 1b) experience holy spirit.
(rom 8:10) God chose to share his glory with you! :) pursue God relentlessly! :) dont live on yesterday's breath. (1 thess 5:19) dont lose your first love. never. shuz. never! lets keep desiring for spiritual things. its not paying homage to God. by ignoring holy spirit, you are putting out holy spirit's fire.
to experience the holy spirit is to always position my heart in such a way that i can listen to his prompting and be ready to receive and change. regardless of how long have i been following Christ, i want to keep on pursuing Him, relentlessly.

a special responsibility

When pastor ben read it out in his teaching, i found it to be very familiar. it was also one of my last week's quiet time.
"Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt. do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan. if you do and they cry out to me, i will certainly hear their cry. my anger will be aroused, and i will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless. if you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not be like a moneylender; charge him no interest. if you take your neighbor's cloak as a pledge, return it to him by sunset, because his cloak is the only covering he has for his body. what else will he sleep in? when he cries out to me, i will hear, for i am compassionate." Exodus 22: 21- 27
how true. as i was sharing, that i'm re- visiting some fundamental lessons on love and giving, this passage stuck a chord in me, that i ought to dispense His love, to be proactive to show it to even the people who aren't close to me. this is how they may see God's love, that is, through my life, my actions and my words.
This commitment flows from our belief that God created all humankind and gave us responsibility for one another with the strongest having a special responsibility for the vulnerable.

how excellent is Your name

O Lord our Lord
how excellent Your name is
how excellent Your name in all the earth
Your glory fills the heaven
beyond the farthest star
how excellent Your name in all the earth
when i think about the heavens
the moons and all the stars
i wonder what You ever saw in me
but You took em and you loved me
and You've given me a crown
and now i'll praise Your name eternally
had a refreshing morning, reading the bible and a worship time. sang the above song during hopekids last weekend. i sang this old song for the first time. it is simple, yet the words ministered courage to me. the Excellent and Most High saw me and chose me. my human mind cant understand.

(cant think of a title for it)

uncle mike texted me yesterday.
"Just as the life of Jacob, the worth of a person does not lie in how much the person has accomplished and achieved for Him but how much the person allowed Him to work in his or her life. true spiritual success is found in how much we allow God to work or build into our lives."
on a sidenote, i cant wait for some events to come. death note movie. exams. bangkok trip. youth camp at singapore sports school. christmas at kallang.
currently, i know that God is starting some construction works in my heart. i'm re- visiting some very fundamental lessons on love, patience and big- heartedness. thank you Jesus for not passing me by.

5- in- 1

Tuesday
when i was about to log off to sleep, Jasmine Poon msned me something which really encouraged me alot and built me up within. my admiration of her goes all the way back to when i first saw her in youth ministry (10 years ago, gasp!). she was the pioneer of the pioneers (power ladies like shirley, priscilla, nicole, andrea and eelee). Jasmine believed in me and brought me to learn about service programming 5 years ago and i'm really grateful to her for investing her time in me, always encouraging me and challenging me to greater heights in programming ministry.
Wednesday
had my first cappuccino at starbucks with angela. found it to be quite foamy (duh).
Thursday

Saturday
drank a kopi peng and saw my two cute little neighbors at breakfast.
Jasmine Poon preached at youth service! *screamz*

the right button

God will make a way
where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
hold me closely to His side
with love and strength for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way
God just know the right time to touch us and minister to us. this song came so timely for me in today's service prayer meeting. it really ministered so much strength to me. for the past week, i've been asking God about something which took place recently. i know that there got to be a reason for it to happen and i trust that God will work out something good through all things. i'm moving forward to trust and see where God will bring me and my family to.
spent a great time with my girlfriends from church. lunch with gwen, puay, voon, xin, philo and yiyou. dinner with puay, yiyou, gwen, xin, philo and shirls. starbucks with wyn, ame and yiyou. msn chat with ruiz.
you girls just encourage and strengthen me so much. here's something:
this is she. * ~ says:
great responsibility but will have great reward!!!
how true is that. so much more when we know who backs us up too :)

hard to forget

was chatting with mama jac. msn chats with her have always been encouraging, refreshing and woww...simply great. to know girlfriends of different ages, going through different life experiences.... i enjoy such bonds.
we were on the topic of life and death. something along that line. there were a few moments which were unforgettable in a person's life. these unforgettable moments were far deeper than just embarrassing moments or funny moments. the fact that a person would still remember those, it just meant these moments carry deeper meanings, deeper emotions or impacts to the person. scenes, memories, moments, incidents, experiences...
i had a few unforgettable scenes in my memory as well.
i remembered standing besides my mum's bed, looking at her weak expression. i remembered seeing a car stopped right in front of me, while crossing the road on headphones. i remembered myself bringing in the bamboo poles that were used to hang our laundry as a primary 4 girl. it was raining very heavily and no one's home. i remembered flipping through TYS books late into the night during O levels time while listening to Glenn's Ego Trip show on 98.7FM. i remembered baking cup cakes at my first sheep's house. i remembered the scene after service, when it was the last service day before Youth had a major restructuring into the new central, northeast, east, west and north. there were hugs and tears everywhere, as we thanked and appreciated one another. i remembered sitting opposite nicole (previously known as jeslyn) in bugis macs, while listening to her shepherding lessons. i remembered random words from shirley- "your walk with God has been a slow and steady one..like a tortoise" (she drew a tiny tortoise after that sentence).
memories are important and unique to individuals. two persons may go through the exact same situation at the same time, yet memories created for them can be very different. i always regards memories as learning moments, life experiences that i can share with someone that come along in my life.
they are powerful. tune it towards heaven. your life will be a vessel to encourage many.

3 things & 1 unglam

was doing my quiet time in the morning and this verse sprang up to me. half a verse, yet spoke many things to me. Exodus 15: 26a says, "listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep his decrees..."
"listen carefully". i need to position myself in a peace- at- heart attitude where i'm patient to wait and listen.
"do what is right in his eyes". i'm understanding that God's my one audience in life and He's the only one i aim to please.
"pay attention to his commands". when i listen, i want to be serious with what God says to me. He is serious in loving us, i want to be serious in loving Him too.
"keep his decrees". obedience is better than sacrifice.
an abstract from msn chat with my favorite pal as i am blogging:

weishan; because i choose to be happy! says:
sigh my room is so whimsical now

weishan; because i choose to be happy! says:
u would be like. wah can tell its your room just at one glimpse

jasminwangshuzhen says:
hahahah take pic lehh
jasminwangshuzhen says:
hehehehe
jasminwangshuzhen says:
i wanna see i wanna see
weishan; because i choose to be happy! says:
siao ah!
last night, received a sms which encouraged me throughout the night. bits of it goes like this: ...God has given you a new kind of love...that's why your response towards...is different from how you may respond if not for this new love infused to you by God. (: thank you Lord.

movie bites

anyone want to catch gong li with me??
An all-star cast brings this remake of Wai Keung Lau and Alan Mak's INFERNAL AFFAIRS to the screen!!! (a big shoutout to Mr Freedy!!! *screamz*)
what to say for a movie like this, with Dicaprio, Damon and Wahlberg in it. (deep breathing. silence)
Few weeks ago, i got quite bored from doing assignments in school that i headed to west mall for awhile and got myself my first comic book! that happen to be Death Note! hahaha. this particular manga was recommended by fellow manga-ians livi san and justin. anyway, here's some lines on what it is:
Shinigami, the God of Death, dropped a notebook in the human world where a weary genius picked it up. “The human whose name is written in this note shall die”, it said. This was the notebook of death that determined people’s death.

powerpuff girls! (in powersuits)

yahoooo! my hr presentation is over! :) many thanks to my fellow project mates, dian, joy and shannie.
an hour before the real thing:
joy took out her white pants and ask us if she looks like from PAP.
shannie busy memorising her notes, repeating her lines over and over again.
dian writing notes for her slides.
and me, busy memorising my lines too. (duh)
the time came for our turn to present, me and shannie said our last prayers for the group and the presentation. throughout the whole thing, each of us shared our points in our own unique styles. kudos to shannie, our last presentater, who brought about a light- hearted atmosphere in the chilly lecture hall. way to go, shannie! :D after the presentation, we were so relieved and we're all chionging for our snacks to ease the hungry stomachs (food for life!). thanks girls and thanks to God too! :)

ahhh.....the lady in black is livi. i like to call her livi san ("san" meanin "o-nee-san" in japanese, older sister) . i first got to know her name when shirls mentioned to me that her younger sister will be coming to singapore to study. i was excited to meet livi, yet abit nervous, as i do not know if i can click well with her. oh well, time flies and we clicked pretty well and i enjoyed every bit of our friendship.
anyway, on a sidenote, am awaiting for a movie to be out soon, on 19 October 2006.
